I will admit I do love the US cover - the is just something about it! Having said that I like the UK cover - it looks adult-esque which is good but I'd be more likely to pick up the US one.

Either way I really need to read it!

I find it really interesting how these two covers use the same image to a different effect.  I think the US one is 'prettier' - I like the lights!  But the UK one just has a more sinister feel that seems to fit in better with the book.

Cover Wars: The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau

US / UK

I really like both of these!  I love the blue on the US one and the way the tag line repeats itself.  I really like the placement of everything on the UK one - the way it is central - plus I like the image in the background. 

I think the UK one is my favourite - but only just. I'd definitely pick up both if I saw them on the shelf to see what they were about.

So I honestly can't choose!  I really love them both!  The UK one is really pretty and I love the way they have designed the title.  The US one is just awesome - it really attracted me to find out what the story was about when I saw it.  So hmm....

Cover Wars: Crewel Blog Tour

As part of the blog tour for the UK release of Crewel, Gennifer Albin has stopped by to participate in Cover Wars for her US and UK covers. Before I hand you over to Gennifer here is the synopsis for Crewel:

U.S. Cover

My first thought when I saw it was “oh, pretty!” It wasn’t like anything I’d imagined for the book, and I had my reservations about it. Was it too girly? What would the subsequent covers look like? I can’t claim to have much part in its creation; however, I did suggest a font change, which is how we got a cool futuristic font with such a lovely flourish.

U.K. Cover

My first thought was “wow, that’s different than the U.S. Cover!” I immediately liked it, and I liked that they had a plan for subsequent covers. My only suggestion was that the girl had a bit more make-up on.

Both the covers depict the story well while having a totally different vibe. I love that both feature striking red lips, because that’s such a Spinster symbol in my mind.

So far I’m batting 2 for 2 on covers, in my opinion. It will definitely be interesting to see what other foreign territories come up with. I really can’t choose between the two because they both represent the book, and I love how different they each feel.

Thanks Gennifer! I really like both covers too - and I think they are definitely very different. I love the colours on the US one and the way you don't see the person straight away (or at least I didn't!) In contrast I like how bold the UK one is - I like the font used for the title, and the swirly lines!

Cover Wars: From What I Remember

According to Amazon this is the UK cover!  What do you guys think?  I've got to say I officially love them both - and am not sure I could decide between them.  Although, the US one does have a cute dog on it...

Cover Wars: The Hunt

US / UK

I really love both of these.  I love the 'ripped' design on the US one - it's really clever and I really like the contrast in colours.  But I think there should only be the boy figure in the middle - for a reason that I believe will be apparent once you've read the story.  The UK one suits the story slightly better I think - it kind of screams male point of view giving it more of an appeal to male readers and for the girls? Well...the guy on the front is rather hot don't you think? 

So I think my preference would be the UK cover.  What do you think?  Does the US or UK one appeal to you more?

Cover Wars: Unravelling by Elizabeth Norris

US / UK

I actually really like both of these but I think the UK one just captures my attention that bit more. I like the way it has the countdown on it, plus I like the way her face is 'breaking up'. 

Either way the book is a must read!  I really enjoyed it - I'll have a review up nearer the release date -but my advice in the meantime?  Add it to your wish list!

Cover Wars: The Pledge by Kimberly Derting

US / UK

I really can't choose! I really like the US one - I'm still a fan of dark covers and I love the model they use and the way her face is almost hidden by her hood.  The only thing I don't like about it is the arm - I would have preferred it to be all black.  I also really like the UK one - it's different and something I would definitely pick up to see what it's about - there is something really haunting and intriguing about it.

Cover Wars: Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey

While I really like the colours on the US one I am not keen on the girl's face in the corner - I think because it just kind of looks like it floating there!  But the UK one is just so gorgeous!  I love it - especially the way the title and the author's name kind of shines - plus I love the fairy wings!  So it's an easy one for me this time - I prefer the UK cover.

According to Amazon this is the UK cover for Fateful and I love it!  I like the US one too but I just love the colours on the UK one - I think it's the red!  Pretty!

Cover Wars: Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick

The US cover kind of freaks me out - plus it feels more 'adult horror' than YA (which is not necessarily a bad thing!)  I really like the sepia tone of the UK one - and the girl used  - but does it make you think zombies?  It has a dystopian vibe about it though and I think out of the two I'd definitely be more likely to pick up the UK one, but either way I can't wait to read it as it sounds amazing!

Alex has run away and is hiking through the wilderness with her dead parents' ashes, about to say goodbye to the life she no longer wants to live. But then the world suddenly changes. Dark Parties by Sara Grant

I like both of these.  There is something sinister about the US one - with the hands over the eyes - and it's intriguing because of it.  I'd definitely pick it up to see what it's about.  The UK one is pretty and caught my eye straight away - plus I like the tag line. I am kind of wondering why the girl on the front has her arms in the air though...

Cover Wars: Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan

I love the UK one! It reminds me a lot of Across The Universe by Beth Revis but it's just so eye catching! And I love the way they have done the title.  I do really like the US one too but I think I would prefer it without the girl - just the black and the title. I do like the glow around the letter O though and the way they have the title vertical rather than horizontal.

Cover Wars: Graveminder by Melissa Marr

I'm not sure I can choose this week - I really like them both.  I love the colours for the UK one - it reminds me a bit of a stain glass window - and I love the blurry image and font on the US one. Hmmm...

Cover Wars: Pretty Bad Things

I am so in love with the US cover for this one! It really caught my eye when I saw it and it took me a few minutes to process it was the same book as the UK one.  I love the sunglasses and the boy in the background - and the way the title/author looks like it's taped on!

I really like the US one but I love the UK one. While I think the US one is very atmospheric I find the UK one very eye catching - I think it's the colouring! And I really like the swirly design and how it wraps around her arms..

Cover Wars: Inside Out

I'm really looking forward to reading Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder when it's released in the UK in January and I absolutely LOVE the UK cover - Mira really out did themselves I think - I really love the font for the title and the image is very eyecatching. So, I'm definitely voting for the UK cover this week - but I do like the US one and the way she's ripping through the cover.

Cover Wars: Immortal Beloved

This is an easy choice for me - as much as I really like the colours and circular design on the US one I just really LOVE the UK one! It does look a bit similar to Shiver/Linger though - or is that just me?

Cover Wars: She So Dead to Us

Hmm I can't decide! There is something really simple about the US one that I like but the UK one also really appeals - I like the size and font of the title. It does look a bit 'younger' though...
