I want to read that...

A Week of Mondays by Jessica Brody

From Goodreads: The story of a sixteen-year-old girl having the worst day of her life, culminating in an unexpected break up, which then begins repeating itself, pitched as Groundhog Day meets Why We Broke Up.

A long wait for this one as it isn't published until August 2016 but I can't wait! It sounds amazing and I have loved all of Jessica Brody's books!

Also how awesome is that cover!!! *grabby hands*

Unremembered by Jessica Brody

Publisher: Macmillan
ISBN 9781447265528
Release Date: 27 February 2014 (previously published 2013)
Source: Provided for review by the publisher

From Goodreads: Sixteen-year-old Sera is the only survivor of an explosion on a plane. She wakes up in hospital to find that she has no memory. The only clue to her identity is a mysterious boy who claims she was part of a top-secret science experiment. The only adult she trusts insists that she shouldn’t believe anything that anybody tells her. In a tense and pacy novel exploding with intrigue and action, Sera must work out who she is and where she came from. Eventually she will learn that the only thing worse than forgetting her past is remembering it.

This is quite different from Jessica brody’s previous YA contemp novels – but at the same time everything I liked about them is still present here.

This is one of those books that is hard to talk about without giving spoilers – it definitely best to go in not knowing anything about it and let it unfold. I really, really enjoyed it and had no idea what was going to happen or where the author was going to take us! I can’t wait to read the rest of the trilogy because I really want to know what happens next.

Great characters, a brilliant plot and romance to die for (I really loved this element of the book!).

My Life Undecided by Jessica Brody

Release Date: June 2011
Source: Purchased

From Goodreads: PLEASE READ THIS! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

Okay, maybe that was a bit melodramatic, but I’m sorry, I’m feeling a bit melodramatic at the moment.

Here’s the deal. My name is Brooklyn Pierce, I’m fifteen years old, and I am decisionally challenged. Seriously, I can’t remember the last good decision I made. I can remember plenty of crappy ones though. Including that party I threw when my parents were out of town that accidentally burned down a model home. Yeah, not my finest moment, for sure.

But see, that’s why I started a blog. To enlist readers to make my decisions for me. That’s right. I gave up. Threw in the towel. I let someone else decide which book I read for English. And whether or not I accepted an invitation to join the debate team from that cute-in-a-dorky-sort-of-way guy who gave me the Heimlich maneuver in the cafeteria. (Note to self: chew the melon before swallowing it.) I even let them decide who I dated!

Well, it turns out there are some things in life you simply can’t choose or have chosen for you—like who you fall in love with. And now everything’s more screwed up than ever.

But don’t take my word for it. Read the book and decide for yourself. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll scream in frustration. Or maybe that’s just me. After all, it’s my life.

As with the Karma Club and 52 Reasons to Hate my Father I loved this. I really liked the idea behind the story - that she wanted to use the blog as a way of making descision – since her own were so bad!

Brooklyn is one of those characters you just know is going to get into trouble – lets just say trouble has pretty much followed her all her life! - so I was very intrigued to see how she would cope with the blog and them making choices for her. I wasn’t convinced she would do what they said!

As with previous books by Jessica Brody this is such good fun. It’s funny, sweet and again I loved the romance element of the book. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Karma Club by Jessica Brody

Release Date: April 2010
Source: Purchased

From Goodreads: Madison Kasparkova always thought she understood how Karma works. Do good things and you'll be rewarded, do something bad and Karma will make sure you get what you deserve.

But when Maddy’s boyfriend cheats on her, nothing bad comes his way. That’s why Maddy starts the Karma Club, to clean up the messes that the universe has left behind. Sometimes, though, it isn’t wise to meddle with the universe.

It turns out Karma often has plans of its own.

On the basis of reading 52 Reasons to Hate my Father I purchased both this and My Life Undecided – and I love them both just as much. I really am a massive fan of her books!

I found this a really fun book to read. I liked the main characters and the whole concept of The Karma Club (although I was waiting for it all to backfire!) Maddie was sweet – maybe a bit shallow to begin with – but she does grow in this and I liked her. Her best friends are great too! Plus I loved the romance element of the book – Jessica Brody is brilliant at that!

A quick and super fun read – with a good message too.

52 Reasons To Hate My Father by Jessica Brody

From Goodreads:

Being America’s favorite heiress is a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it.

Lexington Larrabee has never to work a day in her life. After all, she’s the heiress to the multi-billion-dollar Larrabee Media empire. And heiresses are not supposed to work. But then again, they’re not supposed to crash brand new Mercedes convertibles into convenience stores on Sunset Blvd either.

Which is why, on Lexi’s eighteen birthday, her ever-absent, tycoon father decides to take a more proactive approach to her wayward life. Every week for the next year, she will have to take on a different low-wage job if she ever wants to receive her beloved trust fund. But if there’s anything worse than working as a maid, a dishwasher, and a fast-food restaurant employee, it’s dealing with Luke, the arrogant, albeit moderately attractive, college intern her father has assigned to keep tabs on her.

In a hilarious “comedy of heiress” about family, forgiveness, good intentions, and best of all, second chances, Lexi learns that love can be unconditional, money can be immaterial, and, regardless of age, everyone needs a little saving. And although she might have 52 reasons to hate her father, she only needs one reason to love him.

As soon as I say the trailer for this I knew I had to read it. If anyone remembers a film in the 80’s called Maid to Order, this is what came to mind (just with a teen and no magic or fairy godmother!) It’s the first book by Jessica Brody I had read – but I picked up two of her others as soon as I’d finished this. Yes, it’s that good!

Lexington (aka Lexi) is a complete spoiled brat at the beginning of this book. She thinks nothing of the damage she causes when she crashes her brand new Mercedes into a convience story – she just expects are father to sort it out. Which he does - if in a very cold and distant way! But he also comes up with a plan to make Lexi see that she can’t keep behaving the way she is. In order to get the cheque to her sizable trust fund she has to take on a low-wage job each week for the next year.

This is such a fun, and heartwarming story. I loved Lexi (even in the beginning when she was being a complete brat she managed to do it in such a way I couldn’t help but smile at her!) – and she definitely goes on a journey in this. Seeing her attempt all the different jobs is hilarious – especially in the beginning. . And over the course of the story you are given an explanation for why she behaves in the way she does, and while I’m sure she could have handled things differently, you understand why she was the person she was – and how much her father wanted to help her even if doesn’t show it.

I also loved the banter she has with Luke. He was such a great character – and you can see how these two are going to end up liking each other! I loved seeing their relationship develop.

I really love Jessica Brody’s books – I love how accessible her writing is and how easily she gets into the heads of her characters and lets them grow. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
