I've been quite busy crafting this month!  I finished the blanket for my friend I spoke about last month and crocheted a frog for my aunt.

I fell in love with the frog and named him Herbert.  My aunt loved him so that made up for having to give him away!

I used Crocheted Wild Animals by Vanessa Mooncie for the pattern - it's a great book and I'm looking forward to making more of the animals - there are so many designs I love!

Although I did treat myself to this book:

and I am dying to make the turtle - he is sooooooo cute!  There is a Zoomigurumi website too which you can check out here.  There have so many awesome patterns (and some are free!)

I've not been doing much crafting this month - I seem to be reading more which is good!  But when I have been crocheting I've been working on a blanket for a friend's daughter.

The blanket is a Wool Eater blanket - I love this pattern. It's really has a lot of texture and the bigger it gets the more weighty it is. You can find the pattern on Sarah London's website here.  When I'm finished with this one (I'm making this one to 13 or 14 rounds) I'm planning on making myself a really big one (I'm hoping for at least 25 rounds but would love it to be even bigger!)

I also bought some new books on needle felting that look really good! I haven't had a chance to try them out yet - hopefully I will for next month. But here are the books in case you fancy looking them up:

So I have a friend who is obsessed with Minions so I have been busy making them for her.  Some of you may have already seen these on instagram but I did take a few pictures of the process for anyone interested!

So this is how I made Moody Minion.

The armature. Basically flower wire twisted and bent into a minion skeleton.

Next I covered it with pipe cleaners to give the wool something to felt to.

I started with the arms and legs. Black first, then yellow for the arms and blue for the legs.

Then I started building up the body with core wool. I only lightly felted this so that it wouldn't be too hard when I felted the yellow.

Then I added yellow.

I added more yellow to make him look more like a minion and less banana man! Plus I added blue to make his trousers - using a tiny amount of black for the buttons.

Then I forgot to take more pictures - d'oh! But I made his eye first using white, then brown, a little bit of black and a teeny fleck of white for the light spot. Then I added the eyelids - using these to help secure the eye to his face. I added the grey goggle and the black band, his mouth and finished with his hair.

And that's it. Moody minion!

I'm really excited to take part in Sarah's feature - I have recently discovered crochet and needle felting and love it!  I've been really enjoying it and I love that I can watch TV while doing it (TV shows on DVD are my other addiction!) - although I wouldn't recommend not paying attention when needle felting because those needles hurt if you miss your target!

So crochet wise I have been making quite a few blankets and toys.  Any of you who already follow me on Instagram have probably already seen these but this is some of what I've been up to...

And I've only been needle felting for a few weeks but it is so addictive!  I've spent hours looking at other peoples work and there are some AMAZING creations out there - if I could make anything even a tenth as good I'd be pleased!  If you want to see what I mean check out Sarafina Fiber Art!

Anyway these are my current needle felting creations...

So hopefully by next month I'll have some new bits and pieces to show you.  I have a couple of bits I'm working on so hopefully they'll be ready.
